marquette golden eagles

Pfeifer Sports' primary client since 2007, it all (re-)started here for Pfeifer after being out of sports altogether. Among his Marquette roles:

  • Game night statistician for men's & women's basketball since 2022

  • Primary PA announcer & music coordinator for men's & women's soccer since 2007 — also primary scoreboard operator since 2021

  • PA announcer & music coordinator for men's & women's lacrosse since 2013

  • Fill-in PA announcer & DJ for volleyball and women's basketball

  • PA announcer & music coordinator for track & field events

WISCONSIN INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Since 2019, Pfeifer has provided the PA voice and music for the WIAA State Soccer Championships at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. In 2022, Pfeifer also became the PA voice and music coordinator of the State Softball Championships at Goodman Diamond in Madison.
Pfeifer considers working high school state championships to be one of his greatest honors, as he knows he has the good fortune to set the tone for what may be the most important moment in many peoples' lives and communities' histories.

IHEART MEDIA MILWAUKEE

When iHeart Milwaukee flipped its legacy AM signal from classic country to all-sports, the first programming it originated from Milwaukee featured Pfeifer as the play-by-play voice of The Big 920 High School Game of the Week. The broadcasts were successful enough from 2013-19 that iHeart eventually accomplished the gargantuan feat of winning the long-held rights to Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers games away from the state's strongest signal. In 2020, iHeart promoted Pfeifer to co-host of the statewide network show Football Friday Night, airing on 10 stations statewide following high school football games on Fridays.

NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

While it's only a role Pfeifer fills for one week every few years, Marquette and the NCAA have trusted Pfeifer to be their Credentialing Coordinator when they utilize Milwaukee as a host site for the Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, better known as March Madness. An intense week, Pfeifer's connections with local media have proved helpful as he's filled the role in 2010, '14, '17 and '22, with plans to do so again in 2025. In 2022, Pfeifer also served as an in-game statistician for one of the six games played.

RACINE RAIDERS

Pfeifer served as the PA voice & music coordinator for the Wisconsin Wolfpack indoor football team during its two-year existence, during which time he connected with Don Wadewitz and Jordan Kopac, each of whom had previously worked with the Racine Raiders. Eventually, all three made their way back to the Raiders, one of the longest established (over 70 years) and most decorated (10 national titles) teams in all of traditional outdoor minor-league football. Pfeifer was the Raiders' PA voice and music coordinator from 2011-14, then returned in 2021 and has filled the roles since.

CAMP SHUTOUT

The world's largest youth goalkeeper camp, the Camp Shutout "Big Show" in Stevens Point, Wis. relies on Pfeifer not just to be the camp emcee, but also to handle all camp audio/visual needs, including managing a portable sound system used in a wide variety of ways throughout the camp. From leading the campers in the Cupid Shuffle, setting up video presentations, providing play-by-play commentary for the camp-ending Team Keeper Wars competition to managing and constantly laying and re-laying hundreds of feet of power and XLR cable, Pfeifer does it all over the course of the six-day camp.

CARTHAGE FIREBIRDS

Play-by-play broadcaster Peter Anthony Ferreri has been a friend to Pfeifer Sports ever since introducing himself while working Marquette Soccer in 2022. When Ferreri found out Pfeifer can also do play-by-play, he decided Dan could make an outstanding backup when Peter is pulled in multiple directions. One place that's proved useful has been Kenosha's Carthage College, an NCAA Division III institution in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin with a history of national championships. Pfeifer now regularly fills-in on broadcasts across a variety of sports, including football, basketball, volleyball and lacrosse, also working with sports information director Sam Boyle.

MILWAUKEE TECH STORMERS

One of Pfeifer's longest continuous clients, the Milwaukee Area Technical College relies on a combination of Pfeifer and Don Wadewitz to do PA and music for its volleyball matches and basketball games, with each handling about 40 percent of the season's games on average. Milwaukee Tech men's basketball team has achieved great success in recent years, winning the National Junior College Athletic Association's Division II championship in 2023. During their title run, the Stormers invited Pfeifer to do play-by-play for a streaming broadcast of their regional title victory in Rockford, Ill.

MARQUETTE HILLTOPPERS

The son of an MUHS alum, Pfeifer was honored in 2019 when Adam Caccamise, an assistant coach with MUHS' lacrosse team and part of Marquette University's lacrosse gameday staff, asked if Pfeifer would be interested in announcing & doing music at the high school's lacrosse games. Pfeifer has filled the role ever since, bringing his portable sound system to two of the three different home venues MUHS utilizes while implementing a similar production to the one used by Marquette University's teams.

MUSKEGO WARRIORS

It should be no surprise one of Wisconsin's best and resource-rich high school athletic departments utilizes Pfeifer. After working with girls volleyball coach Susan Peterson at Alverno College, Pfeifer jumped at the chance when Peterson asked if Pfeifer would be interested in announcing and doing music for her new Muskego team's games during the COVID-impacted 2020 season. That led to Pfeifer also being involved with Muskego's softball program from 2021-23 and its girls' lacrosse program from the 2024 season onward. The softball experience played a major part in Pfeifer becoming the voice of the WIAA State Softball Championships in 2022.

NEW BERLIN WEST VIKINGS

Dan Pfeifer never forgets his hometown, or a good client. Despite being a Brookfield Central High School alum, Pfeifer was born and raised in New Berlin, so it was a special treat when he was asked to work a few New Berlin West games by a co-worker during the 2014-15 season. The relationship ended when Pfeifer and the co-worker stopped working together. In 2019, however, Pfeifer returned to West to call a football game for iHeart. Reconnecting with the AD, Pfeifer mentioned he'd be willing to help West again and the AD obliged. Pfeifer has been the primary PA voice and music coordinator for NBW's boys & girls basketball teams since, adding girl's volleyball in 2024.

WEST ALLIS-WEST MILWAUKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT

High school sports returned to action in the 2020-21 school year after COVID-19 ended sports in 2020. For many schools, sports' return presented staffing challenges. Needing help, West Allis Central High School AD Justin Marien reached out in a Facebook group dedicated to public address announcing. With Central only located a few miles from Pfeifer's house, he agreed to come when he could. Pfeifer now works a variety of events for Central, Nathan Hale High School and their co-op programs, including for basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer.

MILWAUKEE MONARCHS

Synonymous as Pfeifer's voice has become with soccer and lacrosse in Wisconsin, it may be a surprise to many that the first time he watched either sport in person was when he announced for it. With ultimate frisbee, at least it was a sport he played in middle school, albeit only casually. Nonetheless, when the Milwaukee Monarchs, a new professional women's ultimate team, needed an announcer and music guy at Wauwatosa, Wis.'s Hart Park, Pfeifer was a good fit. Pfeifer has not only learned the ins and outs of serious ultimate, he's also achieved an understanding of the sport's unique values. As such, the Monarchs are proud to have Pfeifer set the tone for their games.

LAKEFRONT BOWL

Division III football is a big deal in Wisconsin. Accordingly, in 2022, Michael Shaw sought to expand upon the success of Madison, Wis.'s Isthmus Bowl, featuring teams from the WIAC & CCIW, by creating the Lakefront Bowl, pairing the top teams not to quality for the NCAA's Stagg Bowl tournament from the NACC & Midwest Conference. Raabe Stadium in Wauwatosa, Wis. was chosen as the site and Pfeifer Sports was tabbed to work with the event from the very start on the recommendation of longtime Pfeifer Sports associate, Paul Junio. Pfeifer has now filled a variety of positions for the game, including helping with stats in 2002, doing PA & music in 2003, and moving to the Press Box Manager role in 2024.

RKC THIRD COAST

While doing color commentary for a match with the Green Bay Glory in 2023, Pfeifer got to witness the first victory in the history of RKC Third Coast's USL-W team — a 2-1 win over an experienced Glory team that left Pfeifer at a loss for words as to how RKC, which had struggled mightily in its first few matches, found the way to win against a Glory team with a former USWNT player on its coaching staff. Impressed by the club's feistiness, when club owner Wayne Howard reached out to Pfeifer to see if he'd be interested in joining RKC as its PA announcer, Pfeifer took the offer up. He has now helped provide the soundtrack for matches at Pritchard Park for RKC Third Coast since 2024.

FC MILWAUKEE TORRENT

Wauwatosa, Wis.'s Hart Park is the only facility where Pfeifer has worked four different sports — gridiron football, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee and soccer. FC Milwaukee Torrent calls Hart Park home and also routinely calls Pfeifer to help with game operations, whether it be PA announcing, music, running the scoreboard or doing play-by-play, depending on who else can work their matches. The Torrent's men's & women's soccer teams represent the highest level of soccer competition you can find in Milwaukee until operations for a USL Championship team are expected to start in the next few years.

KOHLER
BLUE BOMBERS

It's not often Pfeifer Sports has lengthy stretches of downtime, especially during basketball season. However, circumstances in 2024 fell in such a way that Pfeifer found himself without any gigs between Dec. 21 and the start of 2025. Accordingly, he put out an APB to his contacts that he was available. Spenser Williams, iHeart Milwaukee producer and Kohler High School scoreboard operator, recommended Pfeifer join come to Kohler for a Dec. 27 & 28 holiday basketball tournament. The atmosphere was lauded by so many fans that Pfeifer was offered the chance to come back whenever he could, and he now does a selection of Kohler games as he can fit them into his schedule.

BRONCO SELECT YOUTH BASEBALL

Longtime friend and day-job co-worker of Dan Pfeifer, Julie Nurse had an idea: Her son, Brayden, and his youth club baseball team were set to play in a "Big League Showcase" game at the home of the Milwaukee Brewers, American Family Field … why not bring in Pfeifer Sports to provide atmosphere on the biggest of stages? Pfeifer, having done games at Am Fam before when he was the PA announcer for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball, more than happily obliged. Another one-off game, at the Simmons Field home of the Kenosha Kingfish, also saw Nurse call on Pfeifer's PA & music use. Pfeifer Sports is willing to create a big-time environment, even for players in their early teens.

REP YOUR LOVED ONES LEAGUE

Pfeifer's work isn't limited to tony facilities at private universities and well-to-do suburban schools. He also provides sound gear, announcing and music for Milwaukee's RYLO basketball league, featuring upwards of eight games every Saturday. Competition is serious, featuring numerous players who have returned to Milwaukee with college and professional experience, including former NBA talent. Teams are named for family members, which only adds to players' motivation. "Others might be scared to go into that environment," Pfeifer says. "But I'm not. Games get rough. These guys have something to prove. But if you show respect and show you care, you get respect back. I do that."

PLAY FOR PEACE LEAGUE

The Milwaukee basketball community is a tight-knit one that embraces great prep & college players that hail from the area and gives them lots of opportunities to play throughout the year. Accordingly, when Rep League staff member Andre Cross decided there needed to be a supplement to The Rep League, no one blinked an eye. Thus was born the Play For Peace League in 2024, featuring many of the players and staff of The Rep League, including Pfeifer at select events. Play For Peace plays the majority of its games at the MOSH Performance Center on the expansive campus of The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, Wis.

MILWAUKEE SUMMER PRO-AM

In 2010, Jim Ganzer had an idea: Bring a summer league pro-am basketball tournament to Milwaukee, specifically to give Division I college basketball talent in the state a chance to compete against top pro talent over the summer. Thus was born the Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am, which has routinely featured pro talent from the NBA, G League and foreign pro teams taking on many of the top stars from UWM, Marquette and other colleges. It's also featured Pfeifer, who inquired if he could provide atmosphere for the event while working to establish his reputation. Ganzer obliged and Pfeifer's music and voice have been a part of every Pro-Am since.
