"[PFEIFER] CAN DO EVERYTHING ... THERE ISN'T anything [HE] CAN'T DO."
- CHASE KLINGLER, Assistant Director of Marketing, Illinois State University
Dan Pfeifer loves sports and everything about them, including the atmosphere and pageantry surrounding games.
The Milwaukee Brewers wear an all-blue cap when they play at home and a cap with a yellow front panel on the road. Pfeifer, a devout Brewers fan, coordinates his daily outfits so he can wear the same hat as the team on the same days — and has asked at least one of the hats go into his casket when his time is up. He has friends who have distinct opinions about concession stand hot dog and popcorn quality. Not only is he a daily reader of Paul Lukas' seminal Uni Watch blog, he met Lukas on a trip to New York in 2016. Pfeifer ends broadcasts with the phrase "Be A Fan," encouraging others to be the level of sports fan he is.

It's that love of sports that's made Pfeifer a great fit for numerous schools, media outlets, governing bodies and teams in a variety of roles.
Many gameday and sports media tasks are usually part-time, if not one-off jobs. While Pfeifer does maintain a non-sports day job, he's parlayed his sports work into being busy with sports work over 200 days every year. He's worked events over 100 miles apart, sometimes going from Green Bay to Racine or Madison to Chicago, in a single day.

One of many things that sets Pfeifer apart, though, is his versatility. Understanding event operations from many angles is part of what makes Pfeifer so good at whatever he does.

CASE STUDY • c.c. the hollyville cool cat
When Dan met his wife, Pam, she was working as a child care teacher. The two met swing dancing, a free-time hobby and passion for both. Pam not only enjoyed the dance, but also the fashion of the swing era, often coming out to dances in clothes inspired by the looks of USO girls, pinups and Hollywood starlets from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. In 2018, Pam decided to start her own clothing boutique, Hollyville.

The last child care center where Pam worked had a corporate mascot who occasionally made appearances at parades and events. Given Dan's background with sports marketing, as well as his energetic personality, it made sense for Pam to volunteer Dan to man the costume when needed. After Pam left child care in 2021 to make Hollyville her full-time pursuit, the center still occasionally reached out to her to see if Dan was available when there was a mascot request.

It eventually hit Pam: Why couldn't Hollyville have its own mascot? After months of learning, work and construction later, Pam, who makes original clothing at Hollyville in addition to selling retro and vintage-inspired brands, created C.C. the Hollyville "cool cat." Complete with a large foam head and a pompadour, claws, a tail and a trademark Hollyville bowling shirt, C.C. first took to the streets in the Fourth of July parade in Dan & Pam's hometown of Greenfield, Wis. in 2022. Since, C.C. has been a hit with kids and grownups alike, even appearing with world-famous model Bernie Dexter in Hollyville's part of the 2023 Viva Las Vegas Fashion Show, held at Las Vegas' Orleans Hotel & Casino.

While Dan has never been seen at a venue at the same time as C.C., it's believed he's always with C.C. in spirit, ahem. It's a shame, though: C.C.'s cool, suave and fun personality seems like one Dan could really, uh, relate to. Look for C.C. out at events around Milwaukee.
